LI Birds in Winter: Dark-eyed Junco, Song Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow & White-throated Sparrow
Dark-eyed Junco
Dark-eyed Junco - Slate colored, sparrow-sized bird. visits Long Island in winter and migrates back up north in the spring. Will visit bird feeders but prefers to feed on the ground.

The Song Sparrow is a year-round resident of Long Island.

The White-throated Sparrow is easily identified by their white throat. They visit Long Island in the winter and migrate back up north to their breeding territory in the spring.
